Audiology is the specialty concerned with the study of hearing and the treatment of vertigo, dizziness, disequilibrium, tinnitus, hearing impairment and hyperacusis.

Originally trained in ENT surgery, Dr Dasgupta then trained in Audiovestibular Medicine in the North West Deanery. He obtained his certificate of completion of specialist training in 2008. This is a super specialty involved in prevention, investigation, diagnosis and management of adults and children with disorders of hearing, balance and tinnitus. This is a medical specialty allied to neurology.
He has been working at a consultant level in the specialty over the last 5 years. He is well published in peer reviewed journals and lectures widely in his specialty at the international and national level as an invited speaker. He is an honorary tutor in Audiology and Deafness in the University of Manchester where he teaches in both undregraduate and postgraduate levels. He also works as a medical adviser in Service Personnel and Veterans Agency under the Ministry of Defence where he is involved with medicolegal work.
His expertise lies in the diagnosis and management of complex balance disorders, complex hearing losses, problems in central processing of sound and tinnitus. One of his main interests is investigating the commonest vestibular disorder known - BPPV where he is currently researching into the causes for this recurrent and debilitating condition for a cure.

Mr Stephen Bowles is a specialist in audiology and hearing aid dispensing. He qualified as an NHS audiologist in 1976 and worked in the NHS in Sheffield and Chesterfield providing general audiological services until 1994.
Mr Bowles qualified as a Registered Hearing Aid Dispenser (RHAD) in 1996 and in 1997, set up his own private practice, 'Clarity Hearing Care', providing independent audiological services and privately dispensed bespoke custom digital hearing aids.
His practice also includes providing tinnitus management services, the provision of hearing protection products, occupational hearing screening and related audiological support to ENT colleagues and other agencies.
Mr Bowles’ work at Claremont continues to develop with a commitment to help promote public awareness about hearing loss, including the psychological and social consequences of hearing loss, which is now markedly improved through early detection and intervention.
The range and availability of digital hearing aid technologies are now widely advanced which enables enhanced hearing in background noise and which are priced competitively with varying specifications and automatic features, including ‘Bluetooth Connectivity’.
