Training & background:
Mr Ali is part of Sheffield Orthopaedics Ltd (SOL), proudly in partnership with Claremont Private Hospital. In addition to Claremont’s CQC accreditation, SOL has it’s own CQC accreditation and is part of Claremont’s 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on-call consultant cover provision for inpatients. SOL Consultants are integral to the reduced length of stay Claremont patients enjoy, compared to other providers.
Mr Ali is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Northern General Hospital, with a busy private practice at Claremont.
Amjid graduated from the University of Sheffield in 1996 and did his General Surgical and Specialist Orthopaedic training in Sheffield. He undertook his specialist Shoulder and Elbow Surgery training in Sydney, Australia and in The Shoulder and Elbow Unit at The Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.
In January 2008 he was appointed to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in shoulder and elbow surgery.
Amjid provides a specialist assessment and treatment service for most problems of the shoulder including arthritis, subacromial impingement, rotator cuff problems, frozen shoulder and instability.
In relation to elbow problems, Amjid provides a specialist assessment and treatment service for arthritis, stiffness, Tennis/Golfer’s elbow, elbow instability and ulnar nerve compression.
A significant part of Amjid’s work involves treating complex shoulder and elbow injuries in patients from Sheffield and the surrounding area.
Amjid is actively involved in teaching and training. He is a faculty member on a number of local, national and European courses teaching physiotherapists, GPs, trainee surgeons and other consultants about the assessment and treatment of shoulder and elbow problems.
He is Course Director of The Royal College of Surgeons Shoulder Arthroscopy Course in London, Convener of The Biomet Upper Limb Summer University Course in Sheffield and Convener of the Upper Extremities Trauma Course in Barcelona, Spain.
Amjid is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons Fellowship Examination in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery.
Amjid has undertaken research into shoulder and elbow problems which has been published in peer reviewed journals and he has presented this work both nationally and internationally.
