Mr Breakwell is part of Sheffield Orthopaedics Ltd (SOL), proudly in partnership with Claremont Private Hospital. In addition to Claremont’s CQC accreditation, SOL has it’s own CQC accreditation and is part of Claremont’s 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on-call consultant cover provision for inpatients. SOL Consultants are integral to the reduced length of stay Claremont patients enjoy, compared to other providers.
Mr Lee Breakwell is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in spinal surgery at the Northern General Hospital, with a private practice at Claremont.
He trained in Sheffield and Birmingham before completing fellowships in St Louis, San Diego and Nottingham.
Mr Breakwell was a medical student in Sheffield qualifying in 1994. He worked in Sheffield until 1999 when he began his Orthopaedic training in the West Midlands working at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. He specialised in spinal surgery before completing 3 fellowships in spinal deformity and reconstruction in St Louis and San Diego in the USA, followed by the British Orthopaedic Association National Fellowship in Nottingham.
Mr Breakwell has a full-time spinal practice in the NHS and has a particular interest in training. He is currently Revalidation Lead for Sheffield Children’s Hospital and represents Spinal Surgery on the British Orthopaedic Association Council.
He undertakes all forms of spinal surgery including the treatment of degenerative conditions, scoliosis, tumours, trauma and infections.
Mr Breakwell enjoys teaching and regularly participates in International Educational Programmes.
