Mr Amin is a Consultant General Surgeon at the Northern General Hospital and Royal Hallamshire Hospital, with a private practice at Claremont.

Mr Shwan Amin has been a Consultant Surgeon in Sheffield since 2000.  He treats all aspects of colorectal surgery including colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, haemorrhoids, fistula and fissure surgery.  He also has a specialist interest in the management of colorectal cancer and advanced Robotic and Laparoscopic colorectal surgery.

Mr Amin’s primary interest is the management of colorectal cancer.  He established Sheffield as a centre for laparoscopic & Robotic colorectal cancer surgery and provides the regional service for early rectal cancer surgery using trans-anal endoscopic microsurgery.  This technique allows the removal of early rectal cancer and spares the patient the need for a stoma (colostomy).

Mr Amin is a national and European Trainer in Robotic Colorectal Cancer Surgery and has one of the largest Colorectal Cancer workload in the UK.

He also has an interest in hernia surgery and offers laparoscopic (keyhole) hernia surgery for all different types of hernia. He is the lead clinician for colon and rectal cancer services at the Sheffield NHS Teaching Hospitals.  He uses new techniques in the management of anal fistula disease, parastomal hernia repair and published in the field of colorectal surgery.
