Training & background:
Mr Ramkissoon is a Consultant Ophthalmologist in the NHS at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, with a private practice at Claremont.
He graduated with distinction in Medicine as well as a PhD in Genetics from the University of Cambridge in 1997. During his career he has been awarded numerous prizes and scholarships including the Royal College of Ophthalmologists McCartney Prize for Pathology.
He completed his ophthalmic specialist training at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London where he also undertook Fellowship training in Vitreo-Retinal surgery (2007-2008) and Medical Retina (2008) before being appointed as Consultant in Sheffield in 2009.
He has published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals and has co-authored book chapters on Cataract Surgery and Retinal Detachment.
He is currently an Educational Supervisor to junior ophthalmologists training in the Yorkshire and Humberside Deanery and is a Microsurgical Skills Faculty Member and Trainer for The Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London. He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sheffield.
