Claremont and SOL (Sheffield Orthopaedics Ltd) Consultant Foot & Ankle Surgeon Mr Chris Blundell has been elected as the new President of the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (BOFAS).
BOFAS has grown into one of the larger subspecialist societies of the BOA (British Orthopaedic Association) and considers itself to be a friendly, dynamic and progressively thinking society with the deep-rooted ideals of promoting the study of, research into and propagation of knowledge in foot and ankle surgery. It directs policy and achieves consensus in the treatment of foot and ankle pathology and related medical issues.
Andy Davey, Claremont Hospital Director said “We are lucky to have forward thinking, talented surgeons like Mr Blundell at Claremont. He is the Chair of our Medical Advisory Committee and I must congratulate him on this further achievement, he will make a very inspiring BOFAS President.”
Mr Blundell said “BOFAS was founded by the late Mr Basil Helal in 1975 and it is a honor for me to now be elected as President. Some of our key aims are to encourage interest in foot and ankle surgery among orthopaedic surgeons, support basic science and clinical research into foot and ankle surgery and build links with foot and ankle surgeons in other countries to share best practice and new surgical advances.”
