New Mum MOT
Our New Mum MOT is an essential postnatal assessment for all women who have had a baby, from six weeks up until three years post-partum.
Most women will have questions regarding return to normal activity after having a baby. Many have weakness in their tummy and / or pelvic floor muscles which can lead to problems such as a persistent gap in their tummy muscles (rectus diastasis), bladder or bowel leakage or back pain, especially if incorrect exercises are performed too soon.
Common questions new mothers have after their six week check include
Am I doing my pelvic floor exercises correctly?
Can I do sit ups and the plank to help get my tummy back in shape?
When can I return to my usual levels of exercise?
Is it normal to ‘leak’ when I cough or sneeze?
Will I have more problems if I have had a difficult birth?
These are important questions. Our New Mum MOT gives you an opportunity to put your mind at rest and treat these problems.
Our specialist Women’s Health Physiotherapist, Morgan Lowe, will do an in-depth assessment of your posture, tummy muscles and pelvic floor, will address specific concerns, provide treatment and give you a personalised return to exercise plan. Our treatments include:
