Hepatology (Management of Liver Diseases)

Hepatology (the management of liver diseases) is a specialist area of medicine that includes investigating and treating diseases that affect the liver, bile ducts and gall bladder.

Our service includes outpatient appointments with Consultant Hepatologist who will assess the cause of your liver or bile duct illness, occasionally further blood tests, scans and endoscopy to fully evaluate the condition. Our consultant has access to other specialists services including general and bariatric surgery, radiology and dietetic services.

Our Consultant Hepatologist specialises in managing:

  • Fatty liver disease
  • Alcohol related liver disease
  • Viral hepatitis
  • Pregnancy related liver diseases
  • Liver cirrhosis
  • Bile duct stones
  • Autoimmune hepatitis and primary biliary diseases
  • Liver cancer
  • Upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy
  • Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography (ERCP)
