Trichology is the science of hair and scalp problems – A Trichologist is a person who studies this subject. A Trichologist is an expert in all types of hair loss, hair disorders and scalp problems.
You do not have to be registered to be called a Trichologist and so only practitioners who have undergone several years of training with the Institute of trichologists can call themselves a ‘qualified’ trichologist.
This programme has been running since 1908 and the syllabus is comprehensive, covering everything from scalp physiology, anatomy and chemistry to hair microscopy, nutrition, diseases and disorders pertaining to the hair and scalp and treatment thereof.
Once an individual has qualified as a Trichologist, they must practice in accordance with a code of conduct, ethics and principles outlined by the Institute of Trichology.

Iain Sallis, Trichologist
Iain Sallis qualified from the Institute of Trichologists in 2002 and has expanded to have the largest collection of Trichology Clinics in England, including at Claremont. He specialises in rectifying hair and scalp disorders through tried and tested medicines. This is purely a science based profession and does not endorse or provide any herbal or alternative medicines.
He understands that hair and scalp disorders can be traumatic and have a severe effect on a person’s well-being, which in turn can affect health in general. His clinics provide a service encompassing both underlying medical issues and cosmetic issues relating to hair and scalp health.
