Men’s Health Including Urology
Embarrassed about something? Don’t be. Our Consultant experts have seen it all before.
Men of all ages come to see our friendly Consultant Urologists. If something’s worrying you, the sooner you’re seen, the sooner you can get treated and back to feeling your old self.
You can use your health insurance at Claremont or just pay as you go with a consultation costing £150-£250 where you’ll get all the time you need to talk about your problem and be examined in a private, comfortable setting. You will need a referral letter from your GP. If you don’t have a GP or prefer to see one of our Private GPs for a referral, a routine appointment is just £55.
If, following your consultation, you need any tests, we can help with that too. We offer screening, investigations and surgical procedures.
Here’s the kind of thing our experts treat regularly:
- Patients requiring circumcision
- Enlarged prostate and prostate problems
- Peyronie’s Disease (a bend in the penis when erect)
- Erecile dysfunction
- Prostate screening
- Testicular lumps or pain
- Patients requiring vasectomy reversal
- Kidney stones
- Urinary problems
Whatever is bothering you, we can help. Here’s some more information about some of the common urological procedures we see and treat at Claremont:
Male circumcision is the surgical removal of the foreskin. Circumcisions are performed when a patient’s foreskin is too tight, making it difficult to pass urine or maintain personal hygiene.
No man’s penis is entirely straight when erect, that is the way it is shaped. It may bend slightly upward, downward, to the left or to the right. It varies from man to man and does not usually affect one’s sex life, mood or self-esteem. With Peyronie’s disease, however, the curvature is so invasive that sexual intercourse can be both difficult and painful. Our Urologists frequently see men with this condition.
Flexible cystoscopy involves passing a small telescope through the urethra to allow your consultant to look at your bladder. It is usually performed under local anaesthetic as an outpatient procedure, so you’ll be able to go home on the same day.
If you suffer from difficulty passing urine, increased frequency day or night, poor stream or poor control, then our specialist Consultant Urologists will discuss your concerns and carry out tests to determine the best course of action for you.
TRUS – Trans Rectal Ultrasound Scan
TRUS allows a detailed examination of the prostate gland, surrounding tissue and small biopsies (samples) to be taken. This requires insertion of an ultrasound probe into the rectum.
TURP – Trans-Urethral Resection of the Prostate
If the prostate becomes enlarged, it can place pressure on the bladder and urethra and can affect urination. TURP is a surgical procedure that involves cutting away a section of the prostate which can help with urination problems.
A procedure that looks at how well the bladder, sphincters and urethra are storing and releasing urine. Urodynamic tests may be recommended if symptoms suggest problems with the lower urinary tract.
Vasectomy reversal is an operation performed under general anaesthetic to restore fertility after a vasectomy, as a result overall pregnancy rate after a reversal are about 60%.
